I have been designing ink blots. A company designed some rubber stamps to just ink and press the image on paper and I was not impressed. They bored me actually. So, I decided to start blottin'and desiging in my own style. I was amazed at what you can do if you have a steady hand and like freestyling. I made an altered trading card today and if you have ever created one; You know just how small these little cards are. But, I managed and was impressed that I had some white space showing. I will try to show you the completed altered trading card: Here goes, and hope you like it.

It worked. Now I will show you another hobby of mine. This is a lottery paper art doll. Her name is "Maniac Maine"

The third is another ink blot: The eyes.

Smiles, art doll. Jean

Lovely

I like the eyes alot :)

Yes, ATC are quite small actually; we've had some in previous issues.

I'm curious by what you mean about ink blots; are you designing your own rubber stamps or is it a process more like watercolours?

Thanks for posting,

Eric

Responding to what art ink blots.

A rubber stamp  ink blot is made using an ink pad and rubber stamps. Many people rubber stamp but not the unusual way that I do. You can have many styles when you stamp. Maybe you like flowers or birds or just use word stamps to make a card or a tag and are just a basic rubber stamper. I have been rubber stamping for 25 years and have learned alot and have mingled into everything related to stamping. But, I have ventured into this unexplored area and find it is my muse.

Rubber Stamp Ink Blotting allows you to step out of the "box" and explore your natual creativity like we once had as a child learning to hold a crayon. It is an easy process if you want to take the time and learn. I taught myself by experimenting with "shapes". I wanted "movement"in my art and I am still trying to find this in inkings.

Not one of my ink blots are the same. I do not start by planning what I want to design they just flow freely onto the paper using an ink pad and the rubber stamp by positioning images onto paper using different angles and no rules are needed.  The idea is "in my head"Just like an abstract painting is started and completed it is not easy to explain or teach.

Before I was ink blotting I did abstract acrylic painting and water colors too. I like the freedom of creating and once one is finished I can only imagine the next one will be better than the first.

I usually don't title my work because this takes the mystery out of it. And I never title my abstract art paintings.

Who am I: Just a self taught mixed media artist. I like designing zines, atc's, art journals, cards, and tags. mingle in vintage, grunge, pop art, abstract and artsy styles. I am considered a mood artist.

What inspires me: bright colors, textures and shapes assemblage and everything with wings. And if the art doesn't have wings I just add them.

Why do I create art: I have found a safe haven a place that no one else can disturb. It is a creative outlet that allows me to me myself. I am free to express myself through the filterless process. No restraints present the fluid just flows in the neon liquid pool that produces waves of natural vibrations.

How do I design? With an open mind and an imagination!!

Artfully, Jean
